A hard-hitting drama about an abused woman and the osteopath who, in treating her physical pain, is drawn into her world of mental torment.

Ritually abused since childhood by her ‘family’ and a group of relatives and supposed friends, Ella Wilson has developed a multiple personality disorder. Her osteopath Edward witnesses the startling effect of her condition and, crucially, he also believes the harrowing story she unfolds.

Starring Lia Williams, Soren Byder, Mali Harries, Annabelle Apsion and John Kane.

Mine was the role of Mark Wilson, the ‘brother’ of Ella.

In this extremely intense and emotional drama, I was involved in two scenes, both with Lia Willams (my ‘sister’) and John Kane (‘Daddy’).

I was very proud to be a part of such a wonderful absorbing piece, which does not simply aim to entertain, but also explores the phenomenon of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) - also known as multiple personality disorder.

Everyone involved was extremely supportive of each other and it was a truly rewarding experience. On my second day of filming I realised that the actor John Kane (my ‘Daddy’) was the same John Kane who had adapted the MGM movie ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for the stage, originally for the RSC, and in which I had performed many years before at Leicester Haymarket! It really is a small world!

‘May 33rd’ went on to win a BAFTA award for Best TV Drama, and Lia Williams was nominated for a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society Award for her central performance.

In August 2004 ‘May 33rd’ was shown at the Copenhagen International Film Festival in Denmark.
